Bad Kissingen
Bad Kissingen is a town of Germany re-elected for its Thermalisme, in the area of the Low-Franconie ( Unterfranken ), in the north of the free State of the Bavaria ( Bayern ). It is located in the solid mass of the Rhön.
Bad Kissingen had 21.441 inhabitants in 2003.
History
Bad Kissingen is quoted for the first time in 801 under the name of Chizzicha , and became famous thanks to its thermal springs, attested since 823. In 1279, Kissingen is quoted like Oppidum (Ville). It is at the 16th century that Kissingen sat its reputation of thermal spa. At the 19th century, Kissingen became a society man place where found themselves the European sovereigns, in particular the empress Elisabeth of Austria, the tsar Alexandre II and the king Louis II of Bavaria, which re-elected in 1883 Kissingen in Bad Kissingen . The chancellor Otto von Bismarck came there also several times in cure. In its old residence a Bismark-Museum is today.
