Bad Godesberg

Bad Godesberg is an old German commune and since 1969 a district of the commune of Bonn in Rhineland-of-North-Westphalia. Bad Godesberg counts 70.000 inhabitants (2003) for 32 km ² .

The term of Bad Godesberg also indicates the abandonment of the Marxism and the acceptance of the market economy by the Parti social democrat German in 1959.

Bad Godesberg is twinned with Saint-Cloud (Hauts-de-Seine, France). It is also the birthplace of the " torturer of lyon" Klaus Barbie.

History

  • 722 : first reference written to the town of Godesberg.

  • October 15th 1210: pose first stone of the castle Godesburg by the archbishop of Cologne Dietrich Ier de Hegebach.
  • December 17th 1583: destruction of the castle by the archbishop Gebhart Ier de Waldburg, converted with the Calvinism.
  • 1792 : Godesberg becomes thermal spa.
  • 1925 : In Godesberg Bad is prefixed (bath).
  • 1959 : The Parti social democrat German (SPD) adopts the Programme of Bad Godesberg, in which it breaks with the Marxisme and adopts the doctrines: “the market as much as possible, the public intervention as much as necessary. ”
  • 1969: Bad Godesberg is integrated into the commune of Bonn.
