Bad Brains

Bad Brains is a group of Punk hardcore and founded Reggae in 1977 with Washington DC by four Afro-américains rastafariens.

History of the group

Bad Brains is influenced as of 1979 by the conjunction Punk - Reggae London initiated by The Clash and the selector of Roxy Club Don Letts.

The name of the group is drawn from a composition of the Ramones. Their music, emanation more violent still of punk English who will have underlain it, is balanced by some compositions of reggae. The texts will be divided between the comment socio-policy and the devotion with Jah Rastafari.

The Bad Brains will be very influential but will remain low esteems in their contribution to the independent Rock, Adam Yauch (Bassiste and Rappeur of the Beastie Boys) will however indicate them like a major influence. The group will bring prowess, precision and virtuosity with a form of music which generally ignored this aspect. The career of the group placed out of the standard of the majority current will be chaotic, separations and reformations will be multiple. The disturbed personality of its singer called H.R. with single tessiture in its kind will be an obstacle with success even after the world advent of Nirvana. Bad Brains will be reformed at the time of the closing of the concert hall CBGB in New York for 3 concerts in October 2006.

An album produced by Adam Yauch entitled Build has Nation was published on the label Megaforce Records in June 2007. This new album includes/understands the following titles: Give Thanks and Praises, Jah People Make the World Go Round, Pure Coils, Natty Dreadlocks 'pon the Mountaintop, Build has Nation, Expand Your Soul, Jah Love, Let There Be Angels (Just Like You), Universal Peace, Roll One, Until Kingdom Comes, In the Beginning, Send You No More Flowers, Peace Be Unto Thee . The title hardcore One Pop Like Corn recorded after the album " God Off Love" was not included. A European mini-round which did not include/understand a passage in France at summer organized and this in spite of the fact that the group played for the last time at Paris in 1993. The concert of the Halles of Schaerbeek in October 2007 to Brussels showed a group which remains of a great musical force, however H.R. does not seem more to want nor the physical capacities of its last vocal prowesses and its rageuse occupation of the scene…

The Roir Sessions appear retrospectively with dimensions first album of the Stooges and Never Mind The Bollocks of the Sex Pistols like a base of the punk musical revolution.
