Bacilly

Bacilly (to pronounce /basiji: /) is a common French, located in the department of the Manche and the area Basse-Normandie. It is located between the valley of Lerre and the valley of Vergon. The territory of Bacilly is crossed by the road of Avranches with Granville by the coast passing to the village of Fougeray and by the road of " Villedieu with the mer" , old Mons way and salt box passing to the borough and Fougeray.

Under the old mode one finds several strongholds with Bacilly

A stronghold called Bacilly, pertaining until the thirteenth century to lords of this name then acquired by the abbey of the Mount-Saint-Michel. He was fieffé (conceded with the help of a revenue) in Antoine Ernault.

The stronghold of Chantore, pertaining to a family of this name, then in Thieuville, Mauny, Goyon of Matignon, Epinay. It passed, by sale in 1511, with the Ernault family which preserved it until the Revolution. This stronghold was vassal among that of Saint-Pierre-Langers.

The stronghold of Large Rousselière which seems to draw its surname Roussel, owner in 1327. One finds later two centuries the family Guiton then Ernault. This stronghold was in debate of tenure between Baronnie de Moyon and the Viscount of Saint-Saver-Lendelin.
