Bachkir

The to bachkir is a language belonging to the Turkish group of the family of the altaïques Langues.

The Recensement carried out in 1989 counted among the populations bachkires Soviet Union more 1  047  000 people whose native tongue was to bachkir it, for approximately 300  000 whose native tongue was the Tatar. 26  737 additional people declared that to bachkir it was their second language.

The majority of its speakers live in the Russian republic of Bachkirie (or Bachkortostan), like in the republics close to the Tatarstan and to Oudmourtie. One also finds many speakers in the will krai (territory) of Perm, like in the oblasts (provinces) of Tcheliabinsk, Orenburg, Sverdlovsk and Kourgan. In addition, of important minorities bachkires live with the Kazakhstan and in Ouzbékistan.

Dialects and alphabets

Although originally Finno-ugric, the tribes bachkires adopted the language of the Bulgares of the Volga 680 -1237. After the Mongolian invasion, it is the language Kipchak which became prevalent, because it was that of the greatest number of tribes of the Horde of Gold.

To bachkir modern, just like the Tatar to which it is close, is resulting from this language kipchak, which gave rise to a branch of the Turkish linguistic family. It has many Dialecte S. the tatar, used by Bachkirs like language written until the 15th century, was replaced in this role until in 1923 by the tchaghataï. The alphabet used, as well with the tatar as with the tchaghataï, was the Arabic alphabet.

In 1923, a written form suitable for bachkir was especially created. It is the dialect kuvakan which was used as a basis for the new written language. The Arabic alphabet modified originally used was replaced in 1930 by the Turkish adaptation of the Latin alphabet, in its turn replaced in winter 1938 by an adaptation bachkire of the Cyrillic alphabet.

The alphabet to bachkir current includes/understands the letters of the Russian alphabet, to which were added the following letters: ӘәӨөҮүҒғҠҡҢңҘҙҪҫҺһ.
