Baccio d' Agnolo (or Baglione in French), born Bartolomeo d' Agnolo Baglioni (Florence, ~1462 - 1543) is a Sculpteur and a Architecte of the school florentine.
Biography
It starts by carving and to engrave wood as craftsman sculptor, is devoted then to architecture while being the major disciple of Simone del Pollaiolo and became the friend of Raphaël and Michel-Angel.
He collaborates with Antonio da Sangallo the Old man in work of Santissima Annunziata, in the restoration of the Palazzo Vecchio and in the complete realization of the Big room.
From 1508 to 1515, he was site foreman for the construction of the Duomo but one drew aside it following criticisms of Michel-Angel.
Florence owes him the Palazzo Taddei , the bell-tower of Santo Spirito and that of San Miniato, the Palazzo Bartolini-Salimbeni , the Saint-Joseph church, the chorus of Santa Maria Novella (1491-1496) and some other remarkable buildings by their elegance and their solidity, also, the Mausoleo di Baldassarre Turini with Pescia, built to accommodate the Madonna del Baldacchino of Raphaël and the chorus of San' Agostino with Perugia (1502-1532). Several are decorated of its sculptures, out of wood.
In its workshop met the most famous artists of the moment like Michel-Angel, Andrea Sansovino, the brothers Antonio da Sangallo the Old man and Giuliano da Sangallo and the Raphaël young person.
Its three sons were also active architects with Florence, of which most known is Giuliano D' Agnolo.
