Baccio Bandinelli
Baccio Bandinelli (Florence, 1493 - 1560) is a sculptor and an Italian painter.
Attracted by the monumental sculpture and the imposing effects, he seeks to compete with art of Michel-Angel, but without showing the same genius of it. He carried out remarkable works:
- the Saint-Pierre of the cathedral of Florence;
- Hercules and Cacus , colossal group;
- Orphée , 1519, marble, Florence, palate of the Médicis;
- Adam and Eve , 1551, marble, Florence, Bargello;
- tombs of the popes Leon X and Clement VII;
- a very estimated copy of the famous Laocoon .
Died in 1560, It will not be able to make succeed its project of the fountain of Neptune of the Piazza della Signoria that Bartolomeo Ammannati will realize.
