Baccalaureat techniques of the music and the dance

The vat Technical of the music and the dance (TMD) is a technological vat which address themselves only to the dancers and instrumentalists who want to exert a trade in connection with the dance or the music. It is reserved to the motivated, hard-working pupils and of a good level in one of these two disciplines.

Accessibility

This vat is accessible after one second specific. The selection is of rigor at the entry of this class: maintenance and school records are there to judge motivation and capacities of the pupils. In addition, it is necessary to be registered with the academy in parallel. Few colleges prepare with this vat, it is thus necessary to get information early in the year. No pupil coming from one second general and technological will be allowed.

Presentation

General training (French, LV1, history-géo, maths, science-physics…) and technological formation ((study of works, study of physical principles…) are balanced. The preparation of this vat combines courses with the college and the academy (course of music or dance).

The pupils have the choice between 2 options.

Option instrument

It forms with the practice and the musical techniques (control of an instrument, overall, dictated music and analyzes musical, harmony, Solfège, techniques of the sound, organology, instrumental reading at sight). It aims at the improvement in practice instruments and approaches the history of the music and the dance, as well as the techniques of the sound. In musical techniques, the pupils carry out dictations and musical analyzes, of an increasingly difficult level: melody dictations with a voice in second and up to three votes into final. The future graduates also must decipher musical texts, study the musical theory… For the vat, it is necessary to carry out two imposed pieces.

Option dances

The pupils carries out choreographies and involve themselves with the musical dictation. They study the history of the music and the dance (the Ballet, the Chorégraphes…), and all that touches with the scene: decorations, machineries, spaces… They also have courses of anatomy and physiology. For the vat, it is necessary carry out an imposed variation of Ballet dancing or Contemporary dance.

N.B. : the timetable is heavy (more 30h/semaine). It comprises in particular 5:00 of EPS per week, without counting the choreographic execution in option dances. It as should be noted as the careers of musicians and dancers are often international: the control of English is a considerable advantage.

Orientation post-vat

artistic Higher learning with the academy (access on contest)
Academic works (licenses of music, musicology,… or the University degree performing arts of Intervening Musician (DUMI)). Attention, the teaching of the FAC remains very theoretical. To avoid a bad orientation, the future students must get information about the program and the outlets which offer the license that they aim.
professional Filières Those which want to work in the cultural sector can prepare a professional license in mediation or cultural management.

Outlets

The outlets after a baccalaureat TMD are especially in the fields of art, of the spectacle, but also of the culture and the inheritance. They remain limited enough.

The trades under consideration after this vat are often musician, dancer, type-setter, leader or choreographer, according to the speciality; but the TMD can also make career as professor, organizer or, in a more economic field, as manager of spectacles or administrator of rooms.
