Babybel

The babybel is a Fromage with soft paste, traditionally coated with red Cire made cheese manufactured by the Beautiful Groupe. This name is used indifferently to name Babybel or the Babybel minis, with the pocket format.

This Fromage was created in 1931 but was marketed only in 1952 at the regional level, then in 1964 its distribution extends to all the France. The Babybel minis as for him are marketed in 1977 and open occasion consequently the market of mini cheeses. Indeed its size and its conditioning intend it to be easily transportable.

The product in particular became famous thanks to a publicity on television which took again the song “ Barbara Ann ” of the Beach Boys.

In 1998 the range diversifies with new minis babybel with the Maasdam with yellow hull then replaced in 2006 by Babybel in Emmental, accompanied by the exit by that with the goat, with green hull. At that time appears the minis Babybel Light (reduced out of fat contents) and the varieties in edition limited (such as for example the minis babybel Cheddar with hull violet or Tomato Basil).

It should be noted that some collect the wax (which is in fact of the Paraffine dyes in red) to make of them sculptures or catches of wax (a little like snowmen but wax).

Ingredients

In the traditional version, there are only four ingredients in the babybel: cow's milk, salt (1.8%), leavens lactic and Press vegetable. It contains also calcium (680mg for 100g), of the Phosphore, and the vitamins has and B12.
