Bab Ezzouar

Bab Ezzouar is a commune Algérie resulting from the administrative cutting of 1984 located in the suburbs Is of Algiers to a score of kilometers.

It is a city made up of quoted " dortoirs" built successively since the end of the year 1970 on old full marshy. It does not have really a center although it accommodates several administrations.

It east is spirit to become the fourth Commune of Algeria by its population after Algiers, Oran and Constantine with more than 300.000 inhabitants but also densest.

History

Known by the name of Return of hunting under the French occupation, there remains of this time only two small hamlets; French along the old trunk road in direction of the airport and another indigenous named Sid Me hamed in edge of highway behind the City of May 8th, 1945.

Town planning

The commune is made up of four distinct urban units which are, the Cité of May 8th, 1945 (Sorécal) located at the north of the northern by-pass of Algiers, the Cité of July 5th, 1962 in the south, the Cité Tahar Rabia and the Cité El Djorf in the west.

More recently in the North-East of the commune vis-a-vis the City of the May 8th, 1945 a residential district set up wild named Douzi extending on more than 30 hectares on the agricultural land of the ex Ferme Mohamed Douzi.

Since 2001 a new program of the National agency of the Improvement and Development of Housing (AADL) see the construction of several new cities made up of turns of 15 stages.

Equipment

In the middle of these cities is the university of Sciences and Technology Houari Boumediène (USTHB) of Algiers which accommodates 25.000 students, like several university residences.

a new district of businesses is being born around the Hôtel Mercury and of the seat of the third mobile telephone operator of Algeria Nedjma. It is located at less than 5 minutes of the international airport of Algiers.
