Ba\' Al Hammon
Ba' Al Hammon or Baal Hammon , sometimes called “African Saturn”, is the central divinity of the Carthaginian Religion to which is offered the Sacrifice Molk.
Cosmic God, it occupies a place first in the the Pantheon berbéro - punic, has his Sacerdoce, his Sanctuaire S (Tophet), his appointed representations and his attributes. He had for Parèdre Tanit. Its Culte was particularly demanding and required a total confidence on behalf of its faithful.
God of the Fruitfulness and the Harvest S, it seems to have by his specificity made up an element of permanence in the world Berber and, by his central character (Hénothéisme), open the way to the Monothéisme in Roman Africa. With the romanisation of the North Africa, this god of Semitic origin is collected by the Roman divinity Saturn (Syncrétisme of association) before disappearing with the triumph from the Christianisme.
However, it should be noted a certain survival in the Onomastic and more precisely the Anthroponymy, some First name S of use particularly in Tunisia being grafted in the name of the god.
Certain commentators brought Ba' Al Hammon closer to the god Moloch quoted in the Hebraic tradition.
