BMW R1200

The R1200 is a model of Motocyclette of the Bavarian manufacturer BMW.

It replaces little by little the range R1150, of which it takes again the basic characteristics of the engine. The cubic capacity passes to 1.170 cm ³ by the lengthening of the travel of the pistons of 2,4 Misters.

C

R1200C is the model custom of the range. It is presented in 1998

It in particular was used as mounting with Pierce Brosnan in Demain never dies.

R1200C Classic proposes a high handlebar.

R1200C Independant offers a painting fuck, a small change-wind, a single-seat saddle and rims with stick.

R1200CL is the direct competitor of the Harley-Davidson Electra Glide. To improve comfort, and to the detriment of the handiness, the front tire passes to 150 mm broad. The tubes of forks thus had to be isolated. The back shock absorber gains 20 mm of clearance.

R1200C Montauk is a mixture between C and CL. It takes again the tire before broader of the latter, but forsakes the large windshield and the satchels, for two small round headlights.

GS

The R 1200 GS replaces in 2004 the 1150 GS. The power is of 100 horses with 7.000 tr/min, for almost 12 mkg of couple as of 5.500 tr/min. Compared to its devancière, it profits from many improvements: reduction of the weight, taken in optimized hand…

The diameter of the front brake is of 305 Misters.

Clearances of suspension are changed to 190 and 200 mm, respectively with before and with the back, carrying the height of saddle with 840 Misters.

The reserve of 20 liters allows a good autonomy.

As for the R 1150 GS, the 1200 are doubled, as of 2006, of a Adventure version, perfect to travel when the road leaves room to the track. Clearances of suspension are carried to before and to the back with respectively 210 and 220 Misters the castor angle passes from 110 to 97,6°, which makes it possible to decrease the footing of 9 mm, increasing the maniabilité.
Unfortunately, the saddle culminating with nearly 900 mm of the ground prohibits this machine with the small gauges.

It receives arches of protection to avoid damaging the tank and the cylinders in the event of fall.

The capacity of the tank is increased by 13 liters and the bubble is larger.

A more sporting version of the R1200GS is marketing in 2005: HP2 Enduro.

End 2007, BMW equips the R1200GS with some improvements. The power gains 5 horses and the gear box is modified to support acceleration. It can from now on be equipped with the electronic system of adjustment of the ESA.
suspensions The adventure also adopts these changes, and a tank of 33  adds to it; liters and a more protective bubble.

R

Presented at the end of 2006, the R 1200R represents the calm roadster. The engine develops 109 horses with 7.500 tr/min, more than 11 mkg with 6.000 tr/min, for slightly less of 200 kg dry. It remains of a rather sober esthetics, with its small round headlight.

It is sold with the basic price of 12.000 €.

RT

R1200RT is presented beginning 2005. The power is slightly in rise, with 110 horses, for 230 kg. The tank has a capacity of 27 liters.
16.600 € should be spent, but at this price, the side satchels of 32 liters and ABS are of series.

S

R1200S appears at the end of 2005. It is the sporting model of the range.

The power passes to 122 horses to 8.250 tr/min for 190 kg dry.

It is sold 13.500 €.

ST

R1200ST is presented at the same time as the RT. It is located in the sporting category road.

It profits from a particular esthetics, with a headlight in rhombus.

It is sold 13.300 €, then withdrawn from the catalog at the end of 2006.
