In 1995 Skarica was elected with the legislature of Ontario to the provincial election. It has demolishes the liberal candidate Chris Ward and the outgoing candidate of NPD Don Abel by a significant margin in the electoral zone of Wentworth North, close to the town of Hamilton. It was not named in the cabinet by Mike Harris, and also developed a reputation like a franc-tireur in his party and defendant of the principles of right-hand side and libertarians. He was opposed to the plans of the government of Harris to amalgamate the town of Hamilton with the close municipalities.

Skarica was re-elected in the Ontarian provincial election of 1999, in the redistributed zone of Wentworth-Burlington. During the election, he promised to resign if he could not prevent the amalgamation of Ancaster, of Dundas, and Flamborough in the town of Hamilton. The government of Harris continued its plans of the amalgamation at the end of 1999, and Skarica resigned of the legislature the February 7th 2000.

One could note that the synchronization of the resignation of Skarica enabled him automatically to resume its old work in the legal profession, without penalty. If it waited a few longer months, the five year old window would have run out.
