BETTINA Goislard
BETTINA Goislard , November 11th 1974 (Saumur, France) - November 16th, 2003 (Ghazni, Afghanistan)
French employee of Office of the High Commission for the refugees of the United Nations, working in Afghanistan. She is the first nobody to die on mission for UNO since the fall of the mode of the Taliban in December 2001.
Girl of a French diplomat, Bernard Goislard, and from a Scottish mother, it was born in Saumur in France in 1974. After studies of history at the University of the Sorbonne and an Arabic specialization carried out in Cairo, in Egypt, it integrates one 3rd university cycle into Paris XII Seal of negotiation and diplomacy. Within the framework of this formation it carries out its first mission for UNO with the Rwanda. After a short mission for Handicap International in Lyon, it is recruited like VNU (Voluntary of the United Nations) and works in Rwanda, in Guinea then in Afghanistan as from June 2002.
Its mission in Afghanistan is at Ghazni, it consists in organizing the return of the refugees who left towards the Iran. Within the framework of this mission, it is strongly invested in favor of Afghan in particular while trying to tie relations between common Frenchwomen and Afghan communes.
November 16th, 2003, whereas it circulates in Ghazni in a clearly identified vehicle of the HCR, two men with motor bike mitraillent his vehicle. It is seriously wounded and dies a few minutes later, whereas its driver is wounded. The authors of the shots are caught up with by the passers by which, shocked by their act, start to strike them, before the police force does not intervene. Zia Ahmad and Abdul Nabi will be condemned to died a few months later and make an attempt still today the execution of their sorrow. The identified silent partner of the terrorist activity towards UNO is in escape in the Pakistani tribal zones.
The body of BETTINA Goislard will be transferred on November 16th from Ghazni towards Kabul in a long Afghan convoy wishing to pay homage to him. It is buried with the British cemetery of the city.
