BB 9400
This series of light engines was ordered to replace the engines with vapor on the electrified secondary lines. Of low power, they achieved their task during nearly thirty years before being considered to be inapt for the traction of increasingly heavy goods trains. Their reform was then started. Throughout their career, they were familiar of the Ligne of the Causses, of Béziers with Neussargues, their weight " plume" putting up with a fragile way.
However, the resumption of freight requires the power of BB 8500 used for the traction of reversible light oars. It is thus decided to make suited to the reversibility 42 machines which are renumbered in the series BB 9600. The remainder of the series is reformed.
