BB 60000

BB 60000 are Diesel loco ordered by the SNCF for its activity Fret. Machines of average power, they are intended to replace, at least partly, the series of BB 63400/BB 63500. The direction of the SNCF had has to choose between three models: G 1000 of Vossloh, D 146 Trenitalia of Firema, and a derivative of Am 841 of the CF proposed by Alstom - Spain. It is the proposal of Alstom which is retained.

Design

The 460000 are machines of asynchronous three-phase technology. They derive directly from the series 311.1 and the prototype MABI 311 of the Renfe. With the difference in these basic series, the manufacturer wished to replace the engine MTU by a Caterpillar. In addition, the wish of the French company to be had a machine provided with access by frontal doors involved a new study of the cabin. These engines are equipped with systêmes RSO, GOES, KVB, Daat, dual-mode RST and Atess. The factory Alstom of Valence (ex Meifensa, ex MACOSA) is repurchased by Vossloh in 2005, and it is provided with plates of this manufacturer that the first machines leave the chains.

Service

Arrivals at the end of 2006, the first units have problems of development shunting hydrostatic system. Their authorization of setting in commercial exploitation is subjected to the railway decree safety of October 2006 and to arrété of July 1st, 2004. Its file of safety is analyzed by an independent organism of the control of work and control of work. First 460000 are assigned to the EMM of Normandy for services on Le Havre, Sotteville and Mantes. They would owe then essaimer on the Paris region. Their assignment on other areas is still prone to guarantee because of their weight to the axle and the deplorable situation as regards maintenance of the majority of the French secondary lines.
