BB 26000 are a series of locomotive electric of the SNCF, called “ Sybic ” (contraction of “Synchronous” and “Bicourant”).
A few years after the delivery in 1986 of the last BB 22200, the SNCF decides to conceive a series of universal engines bicourant, i.e. able to as well tractor draw fast passenger trains to 200 km/h as of the heavy goods trains, without changing gear ratio, as it is the case on the traditional engines.
These machines must thus have a great power, and moreover this power available as well under 1500 V must be continuous as under 25 Kv single-phase current.
The type of motorization retained is the same one as that of Atlantic TGV developed at the same time: the synchronous motor. From the tests carried out on the prototype S BB 20011-20012, the first 5 machines (machines of preproduction) are delivered in 1988. Their power of 5600 kw does not reach that of DC 6500, but they are much lighter (90 T instead of 115!).
The 26001 fate of factory at the beginning of 1988, and is delivered on April 1st, 88.
Will follow the 26002 (May 6th), 26003 (May 10th), 26004 (July 1st), and 26005 (September 1st).
Long years ago of intensive deliveries (to 4 machines per month).
5 last 26000 will be delivered in 1998, the any last (26234) being brought into service on July 23rd, 1998.
Two particular points:
In order to remain in the vicinity relative of the factory Alstom of Belfort, the whole of the engines of the series was delivered to the deposit Dijon - Perrigny where the After-sales service Alstom had taken seat, then distributed on two other deposits, Lens and Villeneuve.
The character of multipurpose machine was very quickly implemented, with the traction of passenger trains to 200 km/h (of which Capitole , FOR THE THIRD TIME 200 of Alsace and Interloire), and of the goods trains, in particular between the North-East and South-east.
With the distribution by activities at January 1st 1999, a batch of Sybic is affected with the Broad outlines, largest of the troops returning to the Fret. This distribution being approximate, it is adjusted the following year, with an increase in the batch Broad outlines and creation of a park FOR THE THIRD TIME.
Without notable modification of the ensured services, a small park Broad outlines (VFE, for Voyages France Europe since 2005) was created with Toulouse, and a group of machines Fret was transferred to Avignon to compensate for the departure of BB 27000 gathered in North and Is.
The four titular deposits are thus now Villeneuve, Dijon, Avignon (larger assignment with 99 machines) and Toulouse (smaller assignment with 20 machines).
The traversed lines with 200km/h by 26000 are:
Paris-Toulouse via Limoges & Brive (200 of Stamps in Orleans, and Orleans to Vierzon, soon Chateauroux)
Paris-Cherbourg (three sections being suited to circulation to 200 km/h, including two after Caen)
Orleans-Turns, Turn-Nantes (Service Interloire 200, made into 26000 since September 1997)
Strasbourg-Mulhouse-Saint-Louis (Service FOR THE THIRD TIME Alsace 200, since September 1991)
Saverne-Strasbourg-Mulhouse-Saint-Louis (of Saverne to Strasbourg in 160 km/h and starting from Strasbourg 200)
As from December 2008: Paris-Clermont-Ferrand (160km/h for the moment)
At the speed of 160km/h max, the 26000 roll in regular bearing on:
Strasbourg & Metz-Lyon (and beyond that, Marseilles/Nice/Perpignan)
the 26000 ensure the trains of freighting & trains special, on all the electrified lines of the network (except extreme south-west beyond Bordeaux & Toulouse).
Finally at the speed of 140 km/h, the 26000 jointly ensure with BB 22200, the connections Car-Trains between Paris-Bercy and Marseilles or Nice.
Services are of type MY 100 (100km/h max) and ME 120 (Transport with 120km/h max, containers primarily):
Axis Paris & Lorraine towards the South-east (all south-east, from Perpignan to Marseilles and Nice) of Avignon
Paris - West (Mans/Rennes/Nantes/La Rochelle/Brest) of Villeneuve
Dourges (Lille) - Bordeaux
Modane it Harbor (aller-et-retour per day).
Some Freight with 160km/h appear in the program:
MV160 Dourges (Lille) - Avignon: this train n°50010 of 1100 tons was the first train using the capacities of the 26000 pushed to the maximum, and also their first train long course (1150 km from Lille to Marseilles, since June 1991.
