BBC Two (or BBC2 ) is the second British television channel diffused by BBC.

History of the chain

The launching of the chain initially had been programmed with 19:20 the April 20th 1964, by one evening of entertainment, with the diffusion of the comedy The Alberts , and of a production of Cole Porter of the name of KIS Me, Kate . However, with approximately 18:45, enormous a Power cut, coming from the powerplant Battersea Power Station, made deprive of electricity the center of television. BBC One was able to continue to diffuse, via its equipment with the Alexandra Palace, of the programs, but all the attempts to diffuse the programs envisaged on the new chain were vain; with 22:00, the chain conceded its impossibility of diffusing the programs envisaged, giving in the morning following their diffusion.

With 11:00 the April 21st 1964, the current was restored in the studios of BBC Two and the programming could start, making, so emission for child Playschool the first official program diffused by the chain.
