" Jean de Béthencourt , lord of the place, in 1231, held with Béthencourt-on-Nap a castle-extremely, quite sitted to keep the passage of the Somme on the road of Nesle, within a dense site network Templiers of the area. This a little forgotten castle of the history, will remain until the reign of Louis XIII. " Still in 1246, a knight Hoots of Courchon, gives to the Templiers space located between its manor and the house of the Temple with rights on the grounds given, " in the south and very close to Betencourt." - " March 1231. Act of notoriety established by the JEAN knight OF BETHENCOURT to guarantee forever sale of several patches of land belonging to Symon of Coquerel, its liege man, with the abess of Beaulieu and located on the way of Béthencourt with Nesle in the stronghold of Jean de Nesle, lord dominating; sale carried out by authority seigneuriale to honourably liquidate the debts left discharge by the aforementioned Symon de Cokerel with his/her children mineurs."
