Bénodet

Bénodet is a common department of the Finistere, in the area Brittany, in France. The inhabitants of Bénodet are called Bénodetois Its name into Breton is Benoded , which means mouth of Odet .

A town of Leisures

Bénodet is one of the seaside resorts more in vogue of Brittany. For this reason one finds there a casino, a center of Thalassothérapie, a cinema, a Marina, a hotel trade of very great quality, and a company of tourist high-speed motorboats, beaches where multiple activities are possible. Monuments

  • a menhir was found on a communal ground which was used to throw green waste. The zone was cleared but not arranged yet to emphasize this element of the inheritance.

  • Church of Perguet .
The church is dedicated to holy Brigitte, holy Irish whose worship is celebrated in Brittany since the 6th century. It is the old parish church of Bénodet before the Révolution and probably one of the oldest testimonys of the Breton religious heritage. It was built at the end of the 11th century: to this time the three southern arcades go back. It is decorated very beautiful carved capitals of interlacing and polychrome characters, statues and contemporary stained glasses of the artist of Korean origin Kim In Joong. Classified Historic building since 1916. The church is opened by the guides of the SPREV during the summer.
  • Church Saint-Thomas .

This church located on the port is dedicated to Saint- Thomas Becket. Built in XIIIe century, it counted in the beginning only one nave and a small bell-tower. It was increased during XVIe then altered with XIXe with re-employment of old elements.

Events

Being a seaside resort, Bénodet is in full effervescence at the time of the summer. Thus much of activities take place there. To inform you in detail, it is advisable to consult the tourist office.
  • At the beginning of May, the Yacht club of Odet organizes the Obelix Trophy, race of veil gathering a hundred crews during 4 days.

  • the Y.C.O also organizes each year, in the first fortnight of August, the increase of the odet. This race in transfers-short river can gather to about fifty participant, in majority of the center-boards.
  • Every year, in summer period, the commune organizes animations (concerts inter alia): " The summer in fête". They take place every Friday evening on the cornice. Known artists, to the varied styles (of the rock'n'roll to the celtic in passage by music of the world) come regularly: thus the young people could have fun the festival in 2005 with a concert of Superbus. It is only one example among others.
  • Tournament of Tennis, every summer towards the end of August. Equipped with 4000 euros in 2006 (relatively gravitational tournament for a small town).
  • Tournaments of game of bowls organized every Thursday during the summer. The record of inscription is of 128 doublettes and the prices are " settings + 30%".
  • the market takes place every Monday of center town.
