Béniguet island
The island Béniguet (into Breton Enez Benniget , the blessed island ), located at the west of that of Bréhat, is a private property of 18 ha.
History
The island knew a certain religious past. It sheltered the vault Saint Guénolé. The first mention of this vault seems to be that done in an act of the Pope Innocent III going back to 1198. The vault was sold in 1798, then demolished in 1864 and its stones were sold.The island was in turn named Binivet, Biniwit (in 1198), Binnigueth, Biniguet (in 1202), Biniguez, Bigniguez (in 1214). It is told that towards, Béniguet would have been used as den with smugglers.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the writer Colette resided some time on the island.
The site was classified in 1980. In 1999 the island was bought by " a rich person owner of large the distribution" for 4 franc million.
Work and environment
In 2001 and 2004 regional managements of the environment (DIREN) and Equipment (DDE) noted infringements with the codes of town planning and environment, namely, in ten sites, the creation and the transformation of ways, the construction of hangar with boats and cellar with wines, the modification of careers and the construction of supposed low walls to shelter storm. The materials had been conveyed by helicopter.Work had summers carried out without permit building or to demolish.
