Bécon-the-Heathers

The name of Bécon comes from the word beacon which wants to say terrestrial headlight. Bécon is a hill which overhangs Paris and when the Vikings wanted to invade it is in Bécon that they gathered thanks to their headlight.

The hamlet of Bécon is reproduced on charts of the 18° century in a site which can correspond to current the " Park of Bécon" who lost his castle in the current of the 20° century.

More close to we let us be the locality Bécon the Heathers, located at horse on the communes of Courbevoie, Asnières-sur-Seine and Wood-Doves, as well as the Gare of Bécon-the-Heathers of the Paris line to Saint-Cloud built about 1840.

It is difficult to know precisely (except making research in the old documents) which are geographical contours and the dates of appearance of names Bécon, the Heathers and Bécon the Heathers.

Old drafting Bécon-the-Heathers is not a district but the name of a station. This one draws its name from the districts of Bécon (to Courbevoie) and from the Heathers (with Asnières-sur-Seine and Wood-Doves).

Probably because of sonority particuliere of its name, this place represents the prototype of the suburban small town, without notable interest, but having preserved a rural identity. The writer Robert Belleret expresses this identity particuliere in his novel the Heathers of Bécon .
