FinancingTo carry out and leave Azure and Asmar , the production company North-western Production of the producers Christophe Rossignon and Philip Boëffard gathered ten million euros, of which a million euros in the form of tax credit granted by the Ministry for Finances French because the film was carried out in France.
This sum, more important than for a feature film with real actors, explains the big number of financial present in the generic of beginning: two television channels (France 3 and Canal+), the areas Ile-de-France and the Rhone-Alps, the distributer in rooms and dvd Diaphana, and of the coproducers and institutions European.
These contributions are supplemented by the préventes for the exploitation of film in 35 countries signed after the preview with the Cannes festival 2006 where the film is presented during About fifteen the realizers. To Japan, the film is thus distributed by the Studio Ghibli.
AnecdotesThe film has evil to find a distributer in the United States because of the scene of the Allaitement of the two babies by Jenane at the beginning of the film, which is regarded by the US distributers as immontrable in the USA. In Germany, one proposed in Michel Ocelot to double all the German dialogs whereas an important work was made in classical Arabic language in the original version. Michel Ocelot preferred to rather lose a large German distributer for more modest than to mutilate his work.
