Azimuth mounting

The azimuth mounting is a simple Monture equipping the orientation and telescopes with an enlargement imposing a certain stability on their tripod. It comprises a vertical axis and a horizontal axis making it possible to direct the instrument of aiming easily, because its balance is constant. Smallest Glasses and the Télescopes amateurs are equipped with it by defect, within sight of the simplicity of its implementation, the vertical being able to be only approximate there.

A contrario, the equatorial Monture makes it possible to follow easily the star concerned and observed, only one of the movements having to be followed, to compensate for the rotation of the Earth with respect to the sky. Its principal defect being the requirement of its perfect alignment on the pole star by implementation a more tiresome, for the mobile or provisional installations. The balance of the tube being also more problematic and operations of sometimes folk reversal .

The Monture altazimutale is presented in the same way, but are compensated, by engines and a data-processing control, the defects of two rotations compared to the celestial objects observed, thus making it possible to avoid (as on equatorial mounting) the rotation of the optical image in the field observed. These compensated defects make it possible to engage of the always long installations of astronomical photography to accumulate more light of the weak sources observed (Nébuleuse S, Constellations).
