Azerbaïdjan and the Eurovision Contest of the song
In 2006, the Azeri ministry of the culture sent a letter of protest to the organizers of Eurovision because the singer André who represented the Arménie is native of Stepanakert, town of Azerbaïdjan.
However, the Azerbaïdjan cannot take part in the Concours Eurovision of the song 2007. Indeed, the chain AzTV is not “active member” of the European Union of radio-television, even if the office of radio and national television belongs to the UER. Only the active members, as defined in the statutes of admission of the UER, can take share with the Eurovision Contest of the song, and included/understood in the zone of European diffusion of the Union. The countries “active members” which can present a song are: Albania, Algeria, Germany, Principality of Andorra, Arménie, Austria, Belgium, Bielorussia, Bosnia-Herzégovine, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Egypt, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Latvia, Lebanon, Libya, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Old Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Malta, Morocco, Moldavie, Monaco, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, United Kingdom, Russia, Marine Saint, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Tchèquie, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine and the Vatican City.
