Azadi turn
The Turn Āzādi or Tower of freedom برجآزادی|Borj-e Āzādi is the symbol of Teheran.
Built in 1971 for the commemoration of the 2500ème birthday of the Persian Empire, it was called in the beginning the Tour Shahyād , which means " memory of Rois". It was famous Azadi (“freedom”) with the Révolution of 1979.
Conceived by the architect Hossein Amanat who gains the project in 1966 at the 24 years age, the Tower Azadi Marie the architectural styles Islamic Sassanides and . She is 45 m high and is entirely covered with some 25.000 white marble plates of Ispahan.
A museum and some fountains are under the tower, located on the Azadi place which has a surface of 50.000 m ².
