Ayta ash-Shab
Aïta ach-Chab (rear RTL عيطاالشعب) is a small village of the Southern Lebanon near to 900 m of the border with Israel.
Israélo-Lebanese conflict of 2006
The July 12th 2006, a fixing between combatants of the Hezbollah and soldiers of the Israeli armed takes place close Aïta ach-Chab. The battle causes the death of eight Israeli soldiers and two soldiers are captured.
Strong combat were held in the city and at least nine Israeli soldiers were killed. The village, however very small and very near to the border, resisted the Israeli offensives and became a symbol of Lebanese resistance.
