Ayrens

Ayrens is a common French, located in the department of the Cantal and the area Auvergne. Its inhabitants is called Ayrencois.

Geography

It is on this commune that meet the Green Méridienne (i.e. the Méridien of Paris) and the parallel 45e Northern.

On the territory of the commune are, inter alia, the hamlets of Niac, Boutonnet, the Boss, Colin, James.

Places and monuments

  • the castle of Clavières . A sale deprived Ayrens of the last vestiges of this castle, remains however, the literary work of one of its more famous occupying: the Duke of the Room of Rochemaure .

  • With the intersection of the meridian line of Paris and the 45e parallel north, which is in a field, some trees were planted at the time of the celebrations of the Green Méridienne of the July 14th 2000. The trees are laid out according to two perpendicular alignments, along these geographical lines, which makes it possible to visualize the point of intersection and to be held to with it.
