Aymar of Rivail
Aymar of Rivail is a lawyer and historian from the Dauphine, born in Saint Marcellin (Isere) in 1491 and died in 1558. He is the author of many legal works, of which " Aymari Riuallii Allobrogis Iuris Consulti ac Oratoris Libri De Historia Iuris Ciuilis And Pontifici " (1515). Its " History of Right Civil" (" Civilis Historiae Juris ", 1527) made it become to advise at the Parliament of Grenoble (Isere).
Large historian, one also owes him a biography of the important facts of weapons of the Chevalier Bayard. Aymar de Rivail indeed lived several years in Italy at the time where Bayard was at the top of its glory. Close friend of this last, it wrote the biography in his " of it; History of Allobroges ". In nine volumes which compose it, it described there the history of the Dauphiné, the Savoy, the Comtat-Venaissin, the Bresse and part of the Provence, Suisse and Piedmont with the XVIe century.
