Axelle Red

Axelle Red , of its true name Fabienne Demal , is a singer and type-setter author interprets Belgian, Flemish of expression French (but Dutch-speaking of native tongue) born the February 15th 1968 with Hasselt in Belgium.

Biography

Axelle Red was born in Belgium in the province from the Limbourg. His/her father is lawyer, his mother agent of voyages. She has a Nadia older sister who works in an advertizing agency.

It is since the 6 years age which Axelle has only one idea at the head: to become singer. Its childhood was rythmée by the tubes of the group ABBA and the large ones of the American Soul (Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Sam & Dave, Percy Sledge…), which will be of a capital influence in its music.

After having sung in the balls then gained the contest of the Red Hoods with his/her Ann friend over Loving me, loving you , his/her parents decide to encourage their daughter while allowing him to record its first 45 turns. In 1983 leaves Little Girls under the name of Fabby.

In 1985, Mick Ronson (producing and collaborator of David Bowie) the remark but it dies before being able to work with her. The same year, the young girl decides to record her second 45 turns, Back to Tokyo , under her new pseudonym of Axelle.

Disappointed by its preceding artistic stages, Axelle is registered at the university in Faculty of Law but does not forget therefore its passion. It is besides on the benches of the Libre university [Flemish] of Brussels that it meets Filip Vanes. It in parallel follows courses of theater and cinema.

1989, Axelle is finally the first success in Belgium with Kennedy Boulevard which receives a gold disc besides in Belgium. But in spite of some passages on television, the song passes unperceived to France. The song Aretha and me , in homage to Aretha Franklin, leaves in 1990, another success mitigated which however enables him to obtain a contract at Virgin in 1991.

Axelle obtains its diploma for the occupation of lawyer. But it is invested consequently to 100% in its career of singer in company of Filip Vanes become its manager, and with the support of the brothers Richard and Daniel Seff.

Perseverance could be the keyword of the career of Axelle: ten years after its first individual, it leaves its first album called rightly Without awaiting more , result two years of work. The disc comprises twelve titles under the pseudonym of Axelle Red. The first extract is It only dances but it is with Sensualité that the singer invades the waves of the radios in 1994. It then proves that it is not the interpreter of only one tube by connecting successes with It only dances (again), I await you and the world turns badly. The album is certified five times Disque of platinum in Belgium and France runs out about it more than 400.000 copies. The disc will be sold in very with more than 550.000 specimens! This makes it possible Axelle Red to be made a name on scene. It connects the first parts of concert (Wet Wet Wet) and traverses the roads of France, Belgium, Suisse and Canada at the head of poster.

It is since 1995 that it is surrounded on scene of Christophe Vervoort, Patrick Deltenre and Bert Gielen.

The album will be sold with 630.000 specimens in France (double platinum) and with more than 1 million specimens in the world.

1998 sees the exit of an album of recovery in Spanish. Axelle takes again the tubes of its two preceding Spanish discs. Con solo pensarlo passes relatively unperceived, very often not being quoted in the official discographies. Only Dejame ser mujer , the recovery Rester woman will be diffused. 1998 are also the year of the Football world cup in Paris. Axelle takes part in it in its way by recording the official anthem in duet with Youssou Dour, the court of large the . The album will be certified platinum (more than 460.000 specimens sold in France) and triple disc of platinum in Belgium with more than 100.000 sold copies. Axelle Red will receive also the victory of the female artist to the Victoires of the music.

1999 are also the year of maternity for Axelle, which puts at the world small Janelle. Childhood will be a prevalent topic in the work of Axelle. Since it had two other little girls: Gloria, born on June 24th, 2003 and Billie, born on April 14th, 2005.

In 2000 leaves its first album live named Alive which runs out in France with more than 100.000 specimens while being certified disc of gold. The exit of the disc is accompanied by an excellent promotion and two concerts in Olympia of Paris November 7th and 8th 2000.

In 2002, Axelle Red leaves its fourth album studio, Face has/Face B , more electric, plus rock'n'roll and more black. The topics approached are rather hard (on September 11th in Venez towards me , the antiglobalism in Voilà all that one can do , the Drogue in Blanche Snow , the children soldiers in Pas now ), and the public is déboussolé a little by this change. The album is sold only with 150.000 specimens in France. Axelle Red presents the titles of the album into 4 Olympia (including 2 complete) from March 28th to 31st 2003 and prolongs its Parisian concerts with the Bataclan for 6 acoustic concerts in November that one will find on the DVD French Soul in 2004. Axelle Red will be nominated with the Victoires of the Music in 2003 in the " category; female artist of the année" and " song of the année" with Manhattan-Kabul in Duet with Renaud. It then gains the victory of the song of the year.

In 2004 the best-of French Soul leaves in which one finds two news: " I made a rêve" and " I think of toi". The title " I made a rêve" is a relative success but the best off does not exceed the 100.000 specimens sold for France.

The September 6th 2006 Axelle received from the French Minister for the culture the chivalric insignias in the Ordre of Arts and the Letters. This title rewards the people who were characterized by their creations in the field artistic or literary or by the contribution which they made to the radiation of arts and the letters to France and in the world. It is rare that foreign artists receive this French decoration. Among them, one finds Lou Reed, David Bowie, Penélope Cruz and the Belgian Arno Hintjens.

October 2nd, 2006 leaves the new album studio Axelle, heading Secret Jardin . It is one of the most awaited discs re-entry but the sales are not very good. In spite of an entry in the 6th place of the signal, the opus runs out only with 60.000 specimens in France in one month what is already strong, profiting all the same from a gold disc. Promotion is very badly ensured in France, only one individual is commecrialisé, " Time for nous" but is sold only with 4.000 specimens. In Belgium, it is all the opposite, as of its exit, the album makes an enormous paperboard. " Time for nous" becomes a tube, the album is certified triple disc of platinum (more than 90.000 past specimens) and thus the disc more sold season 2006/2007 in Belgium! All the concerts are done with closed counter, and the public is always also active! To lowlands also left individual the " If you savais" and " Naïve" who are a very good success. The romantic individual future with dead makes already a paperboard on the waves
