The awl is generally a Outil Cordonnier S and Bourrelier S, it is a Poinçon being used to bore the Cuir.
The orthography pointed is also accepted; it is a word which appeared at the 12th century in our vocabulary; it comes from the Germain alisna who indicated this tool.
