April Cleaned Lavigne (Belleville, Ontario, September 27th 1984) is a Canadian Chanteuse Pop-rock'n'roll . Being a great success for several years, it has been described like the “anti Britney Spears”.

Biography

Youth

It passes all its childhood to Napanee, a small town of 5.000 inhabitants of the Ontario. Girl of Judith Loshaw, native of Ontario and Jean-Claude Lavigne, originating in Quebec (Lavigne is a name of origin Canadian-Frenchwoman), it has a big brother (Matthew) and a little sister (Michelle). Its name and its first name are French but April does not speak a word about the native tongue of his/her father.

For his/her parents the music is very important: During many years, only music which I listened to was what I heard with the church and what my parents passed to the house. With my birthday and Christmas, discs were offered to me .

It decides to become singer as of her more young age. Supported by his/her parents, it is at the twelve years age that she writes her first songs. Impassioned by the music, it starts to borrow the dry guitar of her father until the day when it receives his, learning how to play about it of itself. As from this moment, it devotes to it a majority of its time coming from its own initiative. She plays the same song unceasingly: Fly Away of Lenny Kravitz. Then, it starts to write its own songs: I started to write at 12 years and my first songs started to exist whereas I had 13 of them. But I always believe to have written poems. I all kept them and I think that I could transform some of them into songs. Some are indeed not bad . Inspired by its own experiences, its texts mingle with a music influenced by the Goo Goo Dolls or Green Day. Around 12 years, she sings in the Chorale of the church of her village and occurs at the time of small festivals and local events.

The recruiter Antonio Reid, of RCA/Arista, discovers it at the time of one of these festivals and a contract proposes to him. Avril Lavigne is then sixteen years old when it stops its studies to be devoted fully to the music.

Let Go

It then leaves its family, her friends and his small town to settle with Manhattan and to write its first album. However, it enters in dissension with its employers of the moment and is opposed to the rates/rhythms and the words that one proposes to him. It thus leaves to be established with Los Angeles, where it becomes acquainted with Clif Magness, producing and managing.
