Avoriaz
Avoriaz , marked avoria , is a Ski station, located at 1800m of altitude on the territory of the commune of Morzine in the Haute-Savoie in France. It was inaugurated in 1966.
Among the 14 stations of the wide field of the Portes of the Sun, Avoriaz with the characteristic to occupy the central position. Sectors: Arare, Lindaret, Chavanette, Plate, Châtel, Intret, Prodain, Super Morzine.
This station is prohibited with the cars, one moves there with foot or in sledge with horse. The station was conceived so that one can entirely evolve/move with ski.
Jean Vuarnet, Isabelle Mir as Annie Famose is ski champions who marked the spirit of the station.
The promoter of the station is called Gerard Brémond, it is the president of Pierre et Vacances today. The architects name Jean-Marc Roque, Jean-Jacques Orsoni and Jacques Labro.
Avoriaz counts 39 ski lifts and 49 tracks including 6 black, 14 reds, 24 blue and 5 green. The station makes it possible to make the connection towards Switzerland by several routes, of which the No Chavanette called the “Swiss Wall” of which the declivity obliges of them more than one to go down thanks to the chair-lift.
In January 2007 for the forty years of the station the photographer White Fred which has the same age that Avoriaz carried out a book of photographs Téléphérique for childhood with Astrid Bouygues (texts) with the Jean-Michel editions Place. This work tells in images as in words the reasons which make that this field is that of childhood.
