Avery Fisher Hall
The Avery Fisher Hall is one of the rooms of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, which accommodates the Philharmonic orchestra of New York. The room, whose plans were carried out by the American architect max Abramovitz, offers a capacity of 2738 sitted places. Avery Fisher Hall, built in 1962 bore at the origin the name of Philharmonic Hall (room of philharmonic), before being then renamed to honor the memory with Avery Fisher in 1973, after the former specialist in accoustic had made gift of 10,5 million dollars to the Philharmonic one.
Avery Fisher Hall is used today at the time of many events, musical or not. It is used thus for example as place of handing-over of the diplomas of the largest universities of the city. Marriages are also celebrated in the enclosure of the building.
The first appearance of Avery Fisher Hall on television took place on November 21st 1962 on the network CBS, at the time of one of the Young People' S Concerts (representations organized with the philharmonic to ensure the promotion of the music near the young people) directed by Leonard Bernstein.
Avery Fisher Hall accommodates moreover Orchestre S of the whole world among which the Symphony orchestra of London, the Symphony orchestra of Singapore, the Philharmonic orchestra of Rotterdam, or the orchestra of the Théâtre Mariinsky of Saint-Pétersbourg.
