Avenue Foch
The Avenue Foch is an avenue of the 16th district of Paris on the basis of the Place Charles de Gaulle (Place of Star) and arriving on the Boulevard Lannes.
Its length is of 1300 meters, and its width of 120 meters, which makes of it the broadest street of Paris. It is cut in its center by the Avenue of Malakoff. The part planted between the Which occurred Bugeaud and of the Boulevard Fleming received the name of Place of Paraguay by decree of February 13rd, 1962.
It draws its name from Ferdinand Foch, marshal of France.
It was open in 1854, but bears this name since 1960. Previously, it was the Avenue wood of Boulogne , and before 1875, it was called Avenue of the General Uhrich and in the past, the Avenue of the Empress .
The Foch Avenue is decorated statue of Jean-Charles Alphand.
Remarkable buildings
- n° 12 : Hotel of Breteuil , built by Ernest Sanson in 1902, for Henry the Wet cooper of Breteuil (today embassy of Ireland), was also the residence of the Italian painter Giuseppe De Nittis.
