Avarengo

The avarengo is a Italian Cépage of black grapes.

Origin and geographical distribution

It comes from the north of Italy.

It is classified auxiliary type of vine in DOC. Pinerolese Ramie. It is classified recommended in Province of Turin in the area of the Piedmont. In 1998, it covered 42 ha.

  • Young duveteux sheets, green with coppered red edging.

Technological potential

The bunches and the bays are of intermediate size. The bunch is conical and compact. The type of vine is of vigor average and not very abundant production because of the Coulure. It is rather sensitive the Oïdium and less sensitive to the Mildiou. It is sometimes attacked by the gray Pourriture.

Especially intended for the tank, it is employed sometimes like table grapes.
