This family directed the commune during several centuries. The five turns of the cimier symbolize the castle of Avanne. The current commune of Avanne-Aveney results from the fusion of the communes of Avanne and Aveney, initially in the form of a Fusion-association in 1973, then of a simple fusion in 2004.
The vines constituted one of the main resources of Avanne a long time, especially until the 18th century century. Formerly, a vat connected the two villages, it was replaced by a metallic bridge in 1893.

The bridge at summer built in 1893, it is a bridge in the beginning intended to equip a railway line on another site and which was repurchased of occasion by the communes of Avanne and of Aveney to replace the vat which ensured the connection between the 2 villages.
It is one of the rare bridges which was not destroyed at the time of the Second world war. It allowed the passage of the allied armies in September 1944 and was for this reason called " Libérateur".
