Autophagie

Autophagie, of the Greek αυτο (oneself) and φαγειν (to eat), destruction of the cell by its clean Lysosomes. Synonym: Autolysis. (λυσις = dissolution)

This process results in cellular death.

The Histolyse (ἱστος = fabric) is the same process, but intervening at the time of a metamorphosis, it is useful for the organization. e.g.: Amphibians. The histolysis is also present during the embryonic development or at the end of the lactation.
