Automobile Grand Prix of Monaco 1968
The Grand Prix of Monaco 1968, was held on the Circuit of Monaco on May 26th 1968.
Summary
This Grand Prix is marked by the absence of the Scuderia. Indeed a week before the test, Enzo Ferrari decides not to send its two 312 F1 in the Principality, and that to protest against the organizers, whom it holds for persons in charge of dead of his pilot Lorenzo Bandini the previous year.In first line, one finds the Lotus - Ford of Graham Hill as well as the Matra-Ford of surprising Johnny Servoz-Gavin, which replaces Jackie Stewart, wounded. From the beginning, " Servoz" takes the command, in front of Graham Hill, OJ Siffert (Lotus), Surtess (Honda), but at the time of the third passage on the outlet side of the baffle, it types the rail and gives up. Consequently the Britannique Graham Hill will not be anxious any more except in end of the road, where Richard Attwood (BRM) will total 2 seconds.
This GP was marked by many abandonments (Mc Laren, Oliver, Servoz-Gavin, Brabham, Rindt, Beltoise and Rodriguez) all on route exits or touchettes. Five cars only will see the flag with checkerworks. Behind Hill and Attwood, one finds in the third place Lucien Bianchi, followed Ludovico Scarfiotti both on Cooper and Dennis Hulme on McLaren.
