Authority of Liptako-Gourma
the Authority of Liptako-Gourma is an organization gathering the Mali, the Burkina Faso and the Niger.
Created in December 1970, it has like drank to promote and emphasize resources mining, energy, hydraulic and agro-pastoral within a regional framework. Its zone of intervention corresponds to the border regions of the three countries, of a surface of 370 000 km ², distributed on 19 provinces in Burkina Faso, 4 administrative areas in Mali and two departments and an urban community in Niger.
This zone belongs to the the Sahel. The dominant economic activity is agriculture and the breeding but this zone conceals important potentialities in the fields of energy, hydraulics and the mines. However, she suffers in important enclavement.
At the conclusion of the 6th conference of the Heads of State joined together with Gao (Mali) April 25th and 26th 2005, Blaise Compaoré, Burkinabe president was renewed like chair Authority of Liptako-Gourma. The next conference is laid down in 2006 with Tillabéry (Niger).
