Lucien Bersot born on June 7th, 1881 in Authoison in a family of small farmers. It is a Soldat shot for the example. Lucien was Marshal-shoeing, married and father of a little girl. As there was no more in regulatory store of pants, Lucien Bersot could carry only that in fabric white provided with the parcelling given during incorporation. Grelottant of cold in the trenches, it took on February 11th, 1915 to the quartermaster sergeant wool pants identical to those which his/her comrades carried. The sergeant then proposed pants in wrecks to him and mackled blood, taken on a dead soldier, which Bersot refused. For this refusal, Lucien Bersot lives himself to inflict a eight days sorrow of prison by lieutenant André. But the Auroux lieutenant-colonel, ordering regiment, considered this punishment insufficient and asked for his appearance in the special Council of war, true martial Court. As new recruits still not aguerries had just arrived, its intention was obviously to make a military example of discipline. Translated for " refusal of obéissance" February 12th, 1915 in front of the Council of war " spécial" regiment, chaired by Auroux, Bersot was condemned there to death. The inflicted sorrow corresponded then by no means to the military code of justice because the offense had been noted with the back and not in contact with the enemy. Two companions of condemned intervened then with the lieutenant-colonel to try to soften the sentence, but were not heard and transfer themselves punished in their turn of forced labors in North Africa. Others still refused to shoot at their comrade during his execution. The tragic destiny of Lucien Bersot was told in a book of Alain Scoff, the Pants, was appeared in 1982 at Jean-Claude Lattès and was republished in 1998. It also gave place to a telefilm of Yves Boisset, diffused on France 2 in 1999.
