Aussurucq is a common French, located in the department of the Yrénées-Atlantiques and the area Aquitaine.
Its name Basque is Altzürükü .

The commune is crossed by the Bidouze, affluent of the Adour, by the Laurhibar, affluent of the Nive, like by the brooks Arangorena and Apouhoura, and by the affluent of this last, the brook of Azaléguy, which are thrown in the Saison.

The toponym Aussurucq appears in the forms Aussuruc (1455, collection Duchesne volume CXIV), Ausseruc (1412, notaries of Navarrenx), and in the titles of Bayonne: Ausuruc (1454), Feel-Martin d' Auçuruc (1471) and Auserucus (1471).
History
One called messagerie" of Arbailles the central part of the Drunk , between Basabürü and Pettarra (area of Sauguis-Saint-Etienne, Aussurucq and Barcus).

Civil inheritance
The castle of Ruthie, whose origins go back to XIe century, altered in XVe, XVIIe and XVIIIe centuries, and registered with the historic buildings on April 30th, 1925, is set up on the territory of the commune.
Religious heritage
The commune has a church having a wall-belfry known as " trinitaire" or souletin i.e. the peak of the wall, bored bays where the bells tinkle, are completed there by three large points about equal height, appearing the Trinity.
Environmental inheritance
One of the patrimonial richnesses of the common skirt of Aussurucq is consisted its Sous-sol. Indeed, a great part if not the totality of the territory of the commune extends in ic medium Karst.This medium is characterized in particular by the presence of Cavité S natural of complex forms which all discovered nor are not a fortiori explored yet to date.
The speleologists of the department and besides undertook exploration, the description and the publication of this inheritance, in the respect of the environment and of the local populations.
One of the most beautiful cavities of this commune is the Nébélé] , which is the subject of regular work and explorations since 1972.
