Auriesville

Auriesville is a hamlet of Glen (New York) in the Montgomery of the state of New York. At the time of the News-France, this place was a village iroquois named Ossernenon. It is at this place that the missionaries Jésuites Rene Goupil and Isaac Jogues were martyrisés and killed in 1642. It is also the birthplace of happy the Kateri Tekakwitha born in 1656. A catholic sanctuary was built to honor the memory with the martyrized Jesuits. The fathers Isaac Jogues, Rene Goupil, Jean de Brébeuf, Gabriel Lalement, Charles Garnier, No5el Chabanel, Jean de Lalande and Antoine Daniel (killed by Iroquois) were canonized by the pope Pie XI in 1930.
