Aurence
The Aurence is a small French river the Limousin, affluent of the Vienna, and which runs entirely in the department of the High-Vienna, more precisely in the area and the agglomeration of Limoges.
Geography
Sympathetic nerve river with trouts, and gold bearing in addition, it takes its source with the foot of the first southern buttresses of the Monts of Ambazac, with Chaptelat, fatherland of large the Saint Eloi, in the north of Limoges, in the department of the High-Vienna. It runs initially in southern direction full, then once arrived at Limoges, it is directed in direction of south-west. After a way of 27,3 Kilometer S, it is thrown in the Vienna with Aixe-on-Vienna, locality located at the south-west of Limoges.
Hydrology
Sight the extremely reduced size of its catchment area, Aurence is an abundant river. It is also rather irregular. The annual medium flow of Aurence with Isle locality located little before its confluence, is of 1,22 m ³ a second. The surface of its catchment area is of 87 km ².
The river presents the seasonal fluctuations of flow typical of the rivers of the the Limousin, with winter risings from December to April included, and the thin ones of be-beginning of autumn, July to October.
In period of low water level, the VCN3 can fall until 0,10 m ³, that is to say 100 liters a second. Let us recall that the VCN3 is the past minimal quantity or minimal flow over three days consecutive.
The risings are sometimes rather important, but relatively less than those which touch of another affluents of Vienna located more at the west or north of the department, like the Gorre or especially the Brame. The QIX 2 and QIX 5 are worth respectively 10 and 14 m ³. They are the flows calculated for a biennial and quinquennial rising. The QIX 10, or calculated flow of decennial rising, is of 16 m ³ a second (see note). That means that every two years, Aurence should statistically have a rising of about 10 m ³ a second, and, always statistically, every ten years, a rising of 16 m ³ must occur.
Let us note finally that the water blade of flow of Aurence is assembled to 442 millimetres, which is raised enough and higher than the French average, all confused basins.
