Aumale is a station of the line 1B ( western ) of the Métro of Brussels

This station is located on the territory of the commune of Anderlecht .

History of the station

The station draws its street name from Aumale under which it is. The street it even was thus named to remember it the duke Charles Ier d' Aumale exiled with Brussels where he finished his life, by the king Henri IV of France. It had at this place a castle of pleasure, whose last traces were shaven at the end of the 19th century.

Characteristics

The station is decorated of a fresco representing various districts of Brussels during work of digging of the tunnels of the subway.
