Aulnay-on-Mauldre

Aulnay - on Mauldre is a common Frenchwoman located in the department of the Yvelines (District of Mantes-the-Pretty) and in the area Île-de-France. It is to 44 km the west of Paris and to 13 km in the south-east of Mantes-the-Pretty.

The name “Aulnay” means planted place of Aulne S (of Latin alnetum ).

The inhabitants are called Aulnaysiens.

Geography

The commune of Aulnay-on-Mauldre extends in the valley from the Mauldre to 30 m from altitude approximately, to approximately 6 km in the south of the the Seine.

The village itself is located on a communal road which connects the Cliff to Maule.
The D191 secondary road which starts from Épône towards Maule passes in the vicinity immediate of the village.

The commune is served, with the Gare of Nézel - Aulnay, by the Mantes-the-Pretty railway line of Paris-Montparnasse to via Pleasure-Oil cake and Épône-Wall.

The communes bordering are Nézel in north, Aubergenville in the North-East, Bazemont in the east, Maule in the south and the Cliff in the west.

History

Site occupied as of prehistory (vestiges of paleolithic).

Territory attached to the royal Field in 1204. The parish depended then on the chapter of Notre-Dame (like that of Épône).

1867: installation, by Emile Larnaude, of a paper factory in an old mill on Mauldre.

  • Saint-Etienne Church: church built in 1856, an old vault in ruins.

Economy

  • Agriculture (truck farming)
  • Industry: machine Bostik-Findely (group Total), production of adhesives, 40 paid. Currently closed.
