Augustin Pajou

Augustin Pajou (September 19th 1730 - May 8th 1809) is a neo-classic sculptor French, known for its portraits of celebrities and its naked.

Biography

Wire of a sculptor-carpenter, it grows in Paris, in the Faubourg Saint-Anthony. Raise of the sculptor Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne (1704-1778), it gains at the 18 years age the Prix of Rome. It gains the first price of sculpture to the Royal Académie of Painting and Sculpture of Paris.

The king offers his financial aid to him when he studies with the Académie from France to Rome.

He had two children: Flora Catherine Pajou, which married the sculptor Clodion, and Jacques Augustin Catherine Pajou (1766-1828) which was painter of history and portraits.

Pajou was the Master of the sculptors Philippe-Laurent Roland, Jacques-Edme Dumont, David of Angers.

Pajou was Franc-maçon, it belonged to the cabin of the Last nine Sisters.
