Augustin Melleville

Augustin Melleville , born with Laon on March 24th, 1809, deceased with Paris, on July 10th, 1872, it rests in Laon.

Melleville made its studies with the college of Laon, and, as of its more tender youth, its tastes and its aptitudes carried it on the study of the history of its country. Its deep knowledge in Archeology, mineralogy and geology, pointed out it soon, and, since 1842, it belonged to the principal learned societies of France.

It had joined together many documents to publish a new edition of the Histoire of Laon , rare flint collections, fossils, etc All these richnesses, until its correspondence, which it had intended for its birthplace, were sold, ensures one, for the sum of 2.100 francs.
