Augustin Louis de Ximénès

Augustin Louis Marie, marquis de Ximénèz , sometimes Chimènes (1726-1817) was a French writer and poet.

Resulting from a family Aragon ease, it began its career in the army where it obtained the rank of Colonel. Belonging to the intimate circle of Voltaire, it started to write about 1746. Although its literary ambitions were higher than its talent, it met nevertheless success its comedy Dom Carlos (1756), the Portuguese Lettres in free verse (written under the pseudonym M of Oi ***), or On the influence of Boileau on the spirit of its century (1787). With the revolution, it became in favor of the new ideas.

He is the author of the expression “ the Perfidious Albion ”, which is drawn from the poem the era of the French writes in 1793, in which one finds the worms:
