Auguste Edouard Hirschauer
Auguste Edouard Hirschauer (born on June 16th, 1857 with Saint-Avold - deceased on December 27th, 1943 with Versailles) Military French.
Life
He is born with number 20 of the Street of Longeville. His/her father, Charles Edouard Hirschauer, are police chief with the railroads. The family is originating in Mulhouse. His/her mother, Julie Dufour, come from Embry in the Pas-de-Calais. The couple had settled in Saint-Avold on October 1st, 1856.After a few years of studies in Saint-Avold, André Auguste Edouard Hirschauer chooses the military career. After Saint-Avold became German, the family leaves the city.
Young Captain, it Marie with Pagny on the Moselle in 1883 with Marie Elisabeth Claire Joséphine Goussel (born with Metz on November 24th, 1858. He dies in Versailles at the 86 years age. Its body rests with the Montparnasse cemetery.
With the service of the military aviation
It is received successfully with the Polytechnic school. It is named Lieutenant with the 1 {{er}} Régiment of Pioneers of Versailles. It is distinguished at the time of the countryside of Algeria in 1881 in the south of Oran. In September 1909, the General Pierre Auguste Roques order 5 airships for the army and seeks the adequate personnel to control them. In homage to Clément Ader it decides on November 29th, 1911 to call the airships " avions".
The First World War
In 1914 Hirschauer is Général ordering a brigade of balloon pilots with the 5 {{E}} and 8 {{E}} Régiments of Pioneers of Versailles. It is named Head of State Major de Paris and works under the orders of the General Galliéni.
He works with the Ministry for the War but burns of desire for joining the face. It orders the 29e brigade of infantry then the 63 {{E}} Division of Infantry. Promoted Major general, it deals with the 18 {{E}} Army corps then the 9 {{E}} to finish with the II {{E}} Armée. It takes share with the battles of Ourcq, Champagne and Verdun.
It seizes Craonne in 1917. He is the hero of the Chemin of the Ladies. He goes in Mulhouse on November 25th, 1918.
After the armistice, it is named Gouverneur of Strasbourg then put at the retirement in 1919 after 45 years of service.
Orders and homages
It is titular Large Cross of the Legion of Honor, Military decoration and other decorations foreign.The town of Saint-Avold Baptist a street with his name and in 1958, a plate is affixed on the wall of its native house at the time of its centenary.
Hirschauer and the policy
It introduces senator of the Moselle and on January 11th, 1920, it is elected with 735 votes on the list, Republican Union Lorraine'. He is re-elected in 1924 and 1932.
